Your task is to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of:
· the central idea
· the lines of inquiry
· the key concepts
You will also show how you have demonstrated the Learner Profiles and Attitudes. You will need to prepare a digital document (or two, if necessary!) for a member of staff to view. This document will be in the form of a Weebly website. However, if you think it's necessary, you may use another app to complete the task. You can present, graphs, reports, graphics, documents - anything that will help you present your learning!
CONCEPTS WE ARE INVESTIGATING: Connection, causation and responsibility
Step 1: Create a home page
Step 2: Present your survey questions and data
Your digital document will include survey data to demonstrate the connections we make with digital technology in our daily lives. You should also include your analysis of the data. This will probably take up one page of your website.
Reflecting and Writing About Your Research, and Research-Gone-Wrong!
It's important for all good researchers to reflect on the way in which they conduct, analyse and present their research.
In this section, every student should include this sentence with their survey analysis:
"If I were to conduct this survey again, I would...."
If your results don't relate very well to your original research issue, then you should confess!! Write a few sentences about it. Some ideas:
"Unfortunately, my results don't answer my original research question."
"I could have composed more relevant questions such as....."
"My results don't relate very well to my original research topic. Next time, I could..."
Steps 3 and 4: Address the other two lines of inquiry
You can then choose how you'll demonstrate your understanding of the other lines of inquiry. The sky's the limit! Use the teacher questions to help guide your responses, but you should feel free to answer any question you might have about the central idea.
There are some great examples on the wall in 5/6 Red!
We suggest that you:
FORMULATE A QUESTION
ASK: WHICH LINE OF INQUIRY DOES IT RELATE TO?
The impact of digital technology use
OR
Our responsibilities when using digital technologies
THINK: HOW WILL I PRESENT MY RESPONSE TO MY QUESTION?
You will need to make sure you have something to present for each of the other lines of inquiry.
There are two.
Possible ways to formulate questions:
How might we use...... in the future?
What might happen if....?
What rules do we need for......?
Why did changes occur to......?
How does....... relate to........?
How would you re-design.....?
How can we improve.....?
How could you create a new.....?
How would humans respond if.....?
What are the pros/cons of....?
Is there a solution to.....?
Is there another solution to......?
What is the impact of.... on....?
What might be the impact of..... on.....?
Possible ways to present your work:
A SUGGESTED FORMAT FOR YOUR WEBSITE:
Page 1. Home page - introduction, central idea, lines of inquiry etc
Page 2. Survey information to answer the first line of inquiry
Page 3. Information presented to answer the second line of inquiry
Page 4. Information presented to answer the third line of inquiry
